DESCRIPTION:One company’s trash is another group’s treasure! From Southport/Kingsbury you can see the Ozinga cement plant\, a tannery\, and the big overgrown area. The bridge views offer the river with boats and industry. \nVehicle traffic is prohibited at Cortland and Kingsbury headed west all the way across the bridge. But it’s open to pedestrians and bikes!! \nSidenote: this 1902 landmark is the oldest trunnion bascule bridge in the country. \nMany sandwich shops on Clybourn for coffee and restrooms. Street parking.

Highlights are the dead end of the street where you will find the oldest house in Chicago\, officially at 1827 Indiana\, but it’s park and fountain can be accessed from Prairie Ave. There are many other beautiful spots in the 1800’s-1900’s of Prairie\, Indiana and Wabash. \nThe famous Glessner House is at 1800 S. Prairie. \nThe Second Presbyterian Church is at 1936 S. Michigan. \nStreet Parking.

Lorado Taft sculptures\, Ernie Banks baseball headstone\, and the Goodman mausoleum on the shaded pond are very interesting\, along with historic statues and walking paths. \nOpens 9am. Washrooms in visitor center. Online permit week before. Street parking only.
