DESCRIPTION:Due to rain\, last week’s demo was cancelled\, so this weekend we decided to do a Double Header weekend!! Contrast Little Italy on Saturday with Chinatown on Sunday – and great eating in both spots! \nTaylor Street is one of the most historic neighborhoods in Chicago. From the late 1800s to about the 1950s\, this area was a hub for Italian immigrants to settle and establish their families. It soon became Chicago’s “Official” Little Italy for southern Italians. \nMain area of the neighborhood is east of Ashland to Loomis. If you prefer painting a park\, Arrigo Park is at Loomis and Lexington\, north of Taylor. Great homes located there\, and more modest historic homes can be found on the north/south side streets north of Taylor. On Ashland\, the Greek Orthodox Church offers a challenge to painters. \nGreat sandwiches at Conte di Savoia on Taylor! Starbucks with restrooms nearby.

DESCRIPTION:Demo begins at  8:30am at intersection of Schiller and Wells.   Errol will show us his Plein Air techniques. \nOld Town is a busy thriving neighborhood which offers us many choices. You can paint at Twin Anchors Restaurant\, 1655 N. Sedgwick Street. This is an old fashioned restaurant with a 1940’s look. If you walk west\, you’ll find the historic St. Michael’s Church at 1633 N Cleveland Street or the Midwest Buddhist Temple at 435 W Menomonee Street. The Old Town Art Center is at 1763 N North Park Ave.\, which is an interesting street. If you prefer city buildings\, stores\, and restaurants\, then take a walk east to Wells Street. Whatever route you choose\, you will not be disappointed. Restrooms at Old Town Triangle Association or Starbucks at 210 W North Ave. \nWe are fortunate to have a demo this morning from Errol Jacobson\, leading Chicago plein air painter. If you’ve never been to Andersonville\, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. It’s known for its 19th century row houses\, as well as charming antique shops\, cafes and great ‘after paint out’ eateries. DESCRIPTION:Important information.  The main entrance to Graceland on Clark and Irving is still closed due to renovation.  You have to enter Greenwood entrance just south of Montrose Ave (one block south of Cullom) \nGraceland Cemetary opens at 9:00 am  on Sundays \nIt’s our last paint out of the Plein Air Season and we’re spending it at  Graceland Cemetary.  We love the beautiful fall weather and the feel of Halloween in the air.   Lorado Taft sculptures\, Ernie Banks baseball headstone\, and the Goodman mausoleum on the shaded pond are very interesting along with historic statues and  walking paths. \nGraceland Cemetery is a large historic garden cemetery located in the north side community area of Uptown.  Established in 1860\,  It is still an active cemetery with services and visiting families. \nStreet parking only. Restrooms at main building. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n
