DESCRIPTION:Old Town is a busy thriving neighborhood which offers us many choices.  You can paint at Twin Anchors Restaurant 1655 N. Sedgwick Street.  This  is an old fashioned restaurant with a 1940’s look.  If you walk west you’ll find the historical St. Michael’s Church  at 1633 N Cleveland Street or the  Midwest Buddhist Temple at 435 W Menomonee Street.  The Old Town Art Center is at 1763 N North Pond  which is an interesting street. If you prefer city buildings\, stores and restaurants\, then take a walk down Wells Street.  Whatever route you chose\, you will not be disappointed. \nAs far as bathrooms go there’s a Starbucks at  210 W North Place.

DESCRIPTION:Come to Evanston this Saturday to paint  the well preserved lighthouse that was built in 1873.  The Gross Point Lighthouse is located next to the historic building Clark Mansion\, and  is also close  to the lake.  There is a parking lot on the property and bathrooms are located next to the parking lot.  You can’t beat this spot for architectural and landscape painting.

DESCRIPTION:Due to the NASCAR race\, we had to move our traditional July 4th weekend Riverwalk paint out to August. \nWe will be meeting on the riverfront at Michigan and Wacker near O’Brien’s Restaurant.  It’s a wonderful river view\, full of boats\, people and many Chicago buildings and cafes.  There’s also a beautiful view of the Wrigley Building. There’s public bathrooms along the riverwalk.

DESCRIPTION:Taylor Street is one of the most historic neighborhoods in Chicago. From the late 1800s to about the 1950s\, this area was a hub for Italian immigrants to settle and establish their families. It soon became Chicago’s “Official” Little Italy. \nShop fronts\, vintage side streets\, and parks make for a classic paint out. East of Ashland Avenue is the hub\, between Laflin and Loomis. Homes around Arrigo Park at Lexington and Lyle Streets are good subjects. \nGreat inexpensive sandwiches at Conte di Savoia. Restrooms at Starbucks. Street parking.

There are historic homes and many garden owners are happy to have painters among their flora! \nGardens open at 10am. \nA good meeting spot is St. Mary of the Angels church\, at the corner of N. Wood St. And W. Cortland St.\, where there is generally easy street parking. \nYou are welcome to do a pop-up exhibit just south of Lottie’s Pub (1925 W Cortland St\, Chicago\, IL 60622) on Winchester Avenue from about 1-3PM on Saturday\, July 15. DESCRIPTION:Our guest artist for June is Frankie Johnson\,  Her colorful\, energetic work includes landscape\, figures and still life\, done in many media.  Frankie is the owner of the Main Street Art Center in Lake Zurich where she provides insightful help to her students.  She has won many awards and has published a book of her work\, “Painting Through Life.” \nToday’s paint out is a new one for the group.  Spring Valley Nature Center is located at 1111 East Schaumburg Road\, Schaumburg\, Il.  There is easy access from Rte 83\, near Woodfield\, get off at Higgins.  Entry sign is hard to see because it’s in the shadow of a big tree\,  people often pass it and then see it and turn around. We will meet in the parking lot of the Nature Center at 9:20 \n\nThis is from Frankie Johnson who we thank very much for putting this together\nWe are going to the floating pier at the: Wetland Bird Observation Area.\nFollow Signs\, ask people because signs aren’t great.\n\nI will be painting at the pond from the floating pier. \n\n\n
